HOMESICK IN PARIS

SITUATION: Within 24 hours of arriving in Paris, to kickoff their two-week study abroad trip, a student become overwhelmingly homesick and made the personal decision to return back to the States.

VADO SOLUTION: VADO staff member worked with the airline to get her a return flight, brought her to the airport and gave her money for lunch.

PROFESSOR: Continued day as normal with a trip to the Louvre.


TRAM ISSUES IN MILAN

SITUATION: Three students were pulled off a tram for not scanning their tickets upon entering, ending with each being given a ticket by authorities.

VADO SOLUTION: VADO staff member immediately worked through the situation with students, then the Italian authorities, to ensure fines paid and records cleaned.

FEVER IN FLORENCE

SITUATION: Student fell ill with fever and body aches 8 days into trip.

VADO SOLUTION: VADO staff member called doctor to hostel and brought student to local pharmacy to fill prescription.

PROFESSOR: With reassurance that the student would feel better with medication, took the class on the previously scheduled tour at Museo Salvatore Ferragamo.


HOSTEL NOT READY IN LONDON

SITUATION: Hostel wasn’t prepared to provide towels and breakfast to students.

VADO SOLUTION: VADO was able to correct the issue while working 12-hours ahead of students’ arrival.

PROFESSOR: Never knew an issue existed.
